Why Being Overlooked Might Be Your Greatest Blessing: David and Jesse’s House
Some of the greatest moves of God begin with rejection. When the prophet Samuel came to Jesse’s house to anoint the next king of Israel, he was following God’s direction. Jesse lined up seven of his sons strong, skilled, and visible men. Each one passed before Samuel, and each time, God said no. “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 David wasn’t even invited to the lineup. His own father didn’t think he qualified.
