The Blessing of Naomi (Ruth 1:8–9)

Naomi is leaving Moab after deep loss. Her husband is gone.
Her sons are gone. She is walking back to Bethlehem with two daughters-in-law, Ruth and Orpah. Before the road separates them, Naomi pauses and speaks a blessing over the women who have loved her in her pain. This matters because it shows you can bless others even when your own heart is still healing.

The Words Spoken (Ruth 1:8–9)

“Go, return each to her mother’s house. The Lord deal kindly with you, as you have dealt with the dead and with me. The Lord grant that you may find rest, each in the house of her husband.”

What this blessing reveals about God

God is the One who repays kindness with kindness. Naomi calls on the Lord to cover Ruth and Orpah for the loyalty they showed. This reveals a God who sees the unseen sacrifice. The God who records faithfulness. The God who grants “rest” to weary souls.

What this blessing speaks over us today

You may be in a season where you feel empty, but you can still speak life. You may not have the whole picture, but you can still bless. Naomi’s words teach us that bitterness does not have to have the last word. God can lead you through grief and still use your mouth to release peace, rest, and kindness over someone else.

Prayer

Father, thank You that You see every act of love and loyalty. I ask You to deal kindly with me, and with those connected to my life. Where there has been loss, give healing. Where there has been uncertainty, give rest. Give me grace to bless even when I am still being restored. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Declarations

The Lord is dealing kindly with me.
God is bringing me into rest.
My grief will not cancel my future.
I will bless others from a healed heart.
