A Prayer for Godly Friendships
Not every person in your life was sent by God.
Some connections drain you. Some shrink you. Some keep you comfortable in places God has been trying to move you out of. And the loneliness of outgrowing relationships that no longer serve your growth can feel just as painful as having no one at all.
But there is a kind of friendship that God designed that goes deeper than convenience and survives longer than a season. Covenant friendship. The kind that sharpens you, tells you the truth, and shows up when things fall apart.
That is what this prayer is asking for.
"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." Proverbs 27:17
A Prayer for Godly Friendships
Lord, I don't just want companions. I want covenant.
Send me the kind of friends who sharpen me, who speak truth to me even when it is uncomfortable, who will pray with me and not just party with me.
Remove toxic connections that are draining my destiny.
I refuse to stay in spaces that are shrinking me.
Build around me a community that is rooted in You. People who know how to keep a secret, carry a burden, and celebrate a blessing.
As iron sharpens iron, let us sharpen each other.
Amen.
